Hong Kong 12 - 17 Jun 2014 (Day 1)

#throwback #june2014 #travel #holiday #hongkong #lastminutes  #flyalone

I’m not the 1st time traveling to Hong Kong but is my 1st time to book a flight & hotel the day before travel.

And then just nice that my aunty and friend will be passing by Hong Kong from Japan before coming back to Singapore. So I planned to reach a day early and back Singapore a day later than them.

Checking all the available flight to Hong Kong so last min and eventually I confirmed my inaugural flight on Scoot, and then i realised the timing back from Hong Kong is damn bad. (Flying back in early morning 6am, meaning I need to reach airport at 4am...) My eyesight is fail me recently as I had been seeing the wrong time for my flights. OMG!

I was so panic, so I check whether can I make a refund (for the flight back) and searching other airlines for the flight back with better timing. In the end, I decided I will check-in to the hotel next to the airport on the last day.

My flight to Hong Kong is on 12 Jun, 2am. I only confirmed everything on 10 Jun 11pm, which means I have approx. 24hr (including sleeping time) to pack and do the necessary stuffs – Change currency, go for a hair cut, buy essential stuffs for the trip and even have pre-father’s day dinner cos I wouldn’t be around on the actual day.

Travel light to Hong Kong 1st time, usually I will
bring a suitcase but this time I only brought a
mid-size backpack(check-in luggage) +  daytime
backpack. Since I don’t have alot to carry,
I took the train to airport.

Reach airport at 11pm > check-in > roam around > eat something > board the flight > watch some movie on my iPad > try to get some sleep(which I didn’t).

Hong Kong 12 - 17 Jun 2014
DAY 1 (12 Jun)

Touched down at around 6am morning.
Grab a hot drink at Ritazza while waiting
for telecom shop to open at 7am to buy
my prepaid data sim card.

The weather in Hong Kong isn’t any better
than Singapore.

I decided to take the Airport Express train
to my hotel since I never try before,
so I bought my 1st Octopus card.

I am the only passenger on the shuttle bus!

From Airport Station to Kowloon Station, then transfer to their free shuttle to my hotel. They have different shuttle cater to different area, so easy and convenience. As the shuttle bus don’t really stop in front of my hotel, I ask the bus driver how to walk to after alight, and he told me I should have take another bus - K1 which he think is nearer. But never mind, it not that far anyhow.

Best Western Grand Hotel 华丽酒店 Another reason why I chose this hotel is bcos
it is near to where my aunty & friend will be staying in HK.

I reached my hotel at 9am. The staff told me my room will be only ready at 11am. So I drop off my luggage at the hotel and go roam around. At least I don’t need to wait till the normal check-in time which is 3pm.

Since alot of shops haven’t open so early at this timing,
I find a place to chill till 11am. Had my breakfast at
Pacific Coffee while my charging my phone.
I bought 2 handphones, one for my normal use
and another use for the HK data sim card.

By the time I get my room, it already 1pm+. And I was
damn tired as I didn’t sleep on the plane. So after I settle
everything, I went to the supermart nearby to stock up!

Although my room is not big but its good enough
for 1 person. I join the 2 separate single bed into
one king size - one side for sleeping and another side
for my bags and essentials.

My happy hours!

On my way back, passby this Korean style
Cola & Popcorn Chicken stall. I was abit hungry since
I only have 2 drinks and some sandwiches in the morning.

Initially, I though is chicken marinated in cola before frying.
But no, its fried chicken put into the plastic holder which
this holder put into a cup of cola, so you can have
chicken and cola in one single holder. Great idea!
And It taste good too! Ate this on my way back hotel.

Took a nap till 5pm, had a bath and decide to go
for dinner early to avoid the dinner crowd.

Walking to the nearby shopping centre - The One to see what is available. As I was staying at the Tsim Sha Tsui area (尖沙咀), everything is so convenience.

Had my dinner at Suzuki Cafe before the dinner crowd rush in. Order a foie gras & grilled beef rice + Black sugar tofu ice blended. Not that bad!

After dinner, shop around. Saw this cool
cinema wooden chair on sale.

Takeaway a 菠萝包 back hotel for supper
and this is my 1st 菠萝包 I have in Hong Kong.

Also I found my favourite soft boiled egg in 7-11

Since I have a bath tub in my hotel room, of cos
I will fully utilise. I took bubble tub bath everyday.
I even went to get the bath salt but still the
shower gel is the best as it will produce BUBBLES!

End of Day 1.
To be continue...
